Calculating
Growth Component |
 |
|
| |
Before
providing equation for growth component of SCIO, we should build
grading scale, same with clinical component:
| Key
factor
| Grade |
| 1 |
2 |
3 |
| Location |
II-V fingernails |
Thumb nail
or II-V toenails |
Big toenail |
| Age span, years |
< 25 |
25-60 |
> 60 |
The equation using values above is:
Growth index component = l X (a + 3);
where l is location and a is age.
Absolute values of growth component are approximately similar
with known time for nail outgrowth for different nails and ages.
This can be explained by lowest growth component value of 4
correlating with 4 months needed for fingernail complete outgrowth,
and by close-to-observed relations between age groups and location.
Extreme value of growth component is 18. |
