SCIO was initially designed to provide a tool for comparative
studies. Yet it was found of great value helping clinician to
select treatment approach according to disease severity and
growth rate of the nail. Now SCIO may be used:

                    -  to select appropriate treatment according to severity

                       of the disease
                    -  to plan duration of systemic treatment

                    -  to plan cost of treatment

                    -  to plan endpoint evaluation (cure/no cure)

                       for investigator SCIO may offer

                    -  easy, uniform criterion to form comparison groups
                      in clinical trials

                    -  reference point when taking into account severity
                      of onychomycosis
