Selecting
appropriate treatment |
 |
|
| |
As
several ranges of SCIO values correspond to certain clinical
patterns of onychomycosis, the treatment approach may be selected
even with SCIO clinical component, as shown in the table below.
| Value
| Clinical
debriefing
| Treatment
approach
|
| 1 |
SWO or DLSO
but with no more than 1/3 depth involved and with absent
or moderate hyperkeratosis |
Topical treatment
|
| 2 |
DLSO but with no
more than 1/3 depth involved, with severe hyperkeratosis
or up to 2/3 depth with no hyperkeratosis |
Topical treatment
with lower success, which often depends on growth rate.
Systemic therapy recommended |
| 3 |
PSO or DLSO
but with up to 2/3 depth involved with moderate or severe
hyperkeratosis, or more than 2/3 depth with no hyperkeratosis
|
Systemic therapy
(mandatory) |
| 4 |
DLSO,
more than 2/3 depth involved with moderate hyperkeratosis
|
