Calculating
clinical component |
|
|
|
We have decided to use separate formula to calculate clinical
component of SCIO. Formula is an equation that tends to represent
the relative impact of each component on the severity of onychomycosis.
First, we introduce uniform grading scale for each of 3 factors:
Key
factor
| Grade |
1 |
2 |
3 |
Clinical form |
Distal or lateral |
Superficial |
Proximal |
Depth of involvement |
< 1/3 |
1/3 to 2/3 |
> 2/3 |
Degree of hyperkeratosis |
absent or < 1mm |
1-2mm |
> 2mm |
The equation using values above is:
Clinical index component = d/3 X (f + h);
where d is depth of involvement, f is clinical
form (value is 2 for DLSO), and h is hyperkeratosis |
